What will happen if we light matches on Jupiter?

Nothing will happen.

See, you know that Jupiter is composed of hydrogen and hydrogen gas. So it is a very right question about whether matches can burn the whole planet.

The answer is no. Let us understand this in two points,

(A) If Hydrogen and Helium are present there, why won't it burn - 90% Hydrogen, 9% Helium and the remaining 1% contain ammonia, water, and remaining gas in the atmosphere of Jupiter. Burning of anything (hydrogen), heat (matches) and oxygen is required for burning anything. The amount of oxygen there is very less. In addition, most of the hydrogen is found in liquid form. Which cannot complete the combustion process.

(B) Then why Jupiter does not perform a nuclear solution like the Sun - This argument is very correct that if Jupiter has Hydrogen and Helium like the Sun on the planet, then why does it not burn like a Sun with a nuclear solution. The reason is mass. One mass of the Sun is 1000 times more than that of Jupiter. There is a difference of only 10 times in the same size. For this reason, the sun can make a lot of energy to start a nuclear solution. That planet Jupiter cannot create this much energy. This is the difference between a planet and a star.
