Design of disc brake

First of all, in 1890, disc time brake designing started in England. Then in 1902, Lanchester Motor Company designed brakes that looked similar to a modern disc-brake system. Before World War II, the airplane featured disc brakes that were successful, and even the German Tiger tank was fitted with a disc in 1942. Disc brake brakes appeared well within 1953.

 Disc brakes were used inside the man's race. The Jaguar racing team won by using cars equipped with disc brakes, as rivals were using only drum brakes. And his performance was poor.

The first caliper-type automobile disc brake was patented by Frederick William Lanchester at the Birmingham factory in 1902 and used inside Lanchester cars. Within this time copper was used inside the disc brake.  But the use of copper inside the disc brake could not be very successful because the copper did not work properly due to the rough terrain and dust turbulence. In Britain, the Daimler Company used disc brakes on their 1939 Daimler Armored car, disc brakes made by the Girling Company were also used in heavy loads.

In Argus Motörn, Germany, Hermann Klu (1912–2001) patented disc brakes in 1940. In which he introduced disc brakes for every type of shaft. American Crosley Hot Shot is often credited with the first production disc break. American Crosley Hot Shot made a car inside 1950 AD. Inside of which the disc brake was fully used.

However, this system could not become popular as it used to deteriorate due to excessive corrosion during the rainy season. They could be used easily within normal days. Disc brakes were introduced by Chrysler from 1949 to 1953 using a special disc system. The system used twin expanding discs to hold the wheel inside the cast-iron brake drum by rubbing it.

Also, the four-wheel disc brake was built by the Auto Specialty Manufacturing Company of St. Joseph, Michigan, under the patent of inventor HL Lambert and first tested in 1939 at Plymouth.

The first use of the disc brake was done inside the Formula One car in 1951 AD. Disc brakes were then used in the Jaguar C-Type racing car in 1953. These proved to be very helpful in winning the race.

1. Disk brake pads

The disc brake pad is attached to the calipers. The pad is usually a piece of metal. Your brake pads are fitted with a special material that serves to apply car brakes and reduce friction in the rotor. You can see that the brake pad is replaced if the brake material is damaged. There is also a sufficient amount of friction material inside the brake pad and manufacturers also warn to keep it inside a certain amount. If its thickness is reduced, it is necessary to replace the brake pad.

The brake rotor has a short life span due to friction with the pad. And sometimes the rotors go bad. Their flatness is gone. This causes a shiver in stopping the break. It requires machining of the rotor.

However, the machining of the rotor should not be done every time. Because it reduces its thickness. And it is not advisable to use a rotor of less than standard thickness. When one of the pads seizes inside the caliper bracket, it can cause a number of problems, such as overheating and noise.


2. Brake disc

The disk is mounted on the hub. And the space between the disc and the hub must be clean. Otherwise, the disc brake capacity is affected. In addition, many times when the disc is rusted, the brake cork capacity is affected. There is also a problem with the disc or rotor. That it is hot when you apply the brake. And by doing this, slowly the thickness of the disc starts changing. Meaning the disk becomes thinner than anywhere else. If the disc brake has cracked or has become damaged, it is better to replace it.
