  1. On 3 June 1998, a high-speed train derailed near Eschede village in Germany. Around 101 people died and 100 were injured when the Inter City Express 884(ICE884) on Munish-Hamberg rout travelling at 200 km/h crashed on the road bridge. The fatigue crack in one wheel failed causing the train to derail at the switch.
  2. On 24 july 2003, Alvia on Madrid-Ferrol rout hurtled off the track near the city of Santiago de Compostela, spain. About 79 people died and 140 were injured because the train entered the bend at 190 km/h speed which is twice the speed limit of 80 km/h.
  3. On 23 July 2011 two high-speed rails collided in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China. CRH-2-139E collided with CRH1-046B because of failure of railway signals. Around 40 people were killed and 192 were injured in the accident.
  4. On 17 July 2014, two French trains collided near Denguin, France injuring 40 people. TGV ( Train a Grande Vitesse ) travelling from Tarbes to Paris slowed down and picked up speed when it was hit from behind by TER (Transporter Express Regional) passenger train travelling at 90 km/h.
