2. The word Comet is derived from the Greek word komētēs meaning Hairy one with hair. This is how it looks, hence the name.
3. Comets are made of comets, rock, dust, and gases. When approaching the Sun, due to heat, gases and dust particles spread in the opposite direction from the Sun and the sunlight changes and starts glowing.
Comet can divide their shape into two main parts, head and tail at this time. The center of the head is very bright. This is called its nucleus. On the opposite side of the sun, the bright part of snow and dust looks like a tail. This is called a coma. It is always in the opposite direction from the Sun. Due to this tail of a comet, it is also called the tail star.
4. When away from the sun, dust, and ice again freeze in its nucleus. Every time it comes to the sun, its dust and snow are scattered, due to which its tail becomes shorter and often it becomes devoid of the tail. These comets do not reveal the tail even when approaching the Sun. Such comets are called tailless comets. At this time, it seems like an asteroid.
5. Comets are not sustainable forever, yet each comet's return time is fixed. Like the Earth, comets revolve around the sun. There are many such comets, but the most famous is Halley's Comet. Many say that the star of Bethlehem was Halley's comet. The rotation period of the Halley Comet is 76 years, it last appeared in 1986. It will next appear in 1986 + 76 = 2062.
