how are comets formed

Ancient History: According to mythological belief, the arrival of a comet was considered to be a bad omen. Some people called it a falling star. Aristotle discussed comets in his first book Metrology. Many earlier intellectuals recognized it as the planets of the solar system. But Aristotle rejected this notion because the planets appear in a fixed constellation in the sky while comets can be seen anywhere in the sky. According to Aristotle, comets were born in the outer atmosphere of the Earth. Like comets, Aristotle had the same belief for meteors, auroras, boreholes, and galaxies. Many erstwhile intellectuals disagreed with this view of Aristotle. Seneca disagreed on this view in the Natural Question. According to him, comets have no effect on the external environment or wind. Human beings then had little knowledge about space.

How comets are made:

A comet has three main parts -

1. Navel
2. Coma
3. The tail

The navel is the center of the comet, which is made of stone and ice. A cloud of gas and dissolves around the navel is called a coma. The gas and dust from the navel and the coma take the shape of a tail.

When the comet comes closer to the Sun, the umbilical gases evaporate due to the effect of solar radiation. This increases the size of the coma to millions of miles. The gas and dissolves from the coma take the shape of a long question. Due to solar wind, this question is in the opposite direction of the sun. As the comet approaches the Sun, the tail size increases.

A comet is a solar system that consists of small blocks made of stone, dust, ice, and gas. They revolve around the Sun like planets. Comets with short paths complete the orbit of the Sun in an elliptical path in about 8 to 200 years. The path of some comets is annular and they appear only once. Comets with long paths take thousands of years to orbit one.

Most comets are made of ice, carbon dioxide, methane, ammonia and other substances such as silicate and organic mixtures.

Some Famous Comets:

1. Heli comet
2. Comet Schumaker-Levi 4
3. Hell-bop comet.
