Every comet has two parts - head and tail. They are very large in size. Many comets are so large that their heads are many times larger than the size of the sun, their tails are millions of miles long. On the opposite side of the sun, the bright part of snow and dust looks like a tail. This is called a coma. It is always in the opposite direction of the sun. When away from the sun, dust, and ice again freeze in their nucleus. Every time it comes to the Sun, its dust and snow get scattered due to which its tail keeps getting shorter and often it becomes devoid of a tail. Then these comets do not reveal the tail even when approaching the Sun, which is called tailless comet. Then they look like a Shudra planet or a planetary.
Some comets come close to the earth every few years, while some take thousands of years to get closer to the earth because it takes thousands of years to make one round of the sun. Sometimes some comets burst as soon as they come near the earth and dust and meteor bodies fall from them. The dust that the Comets are made of is believed to have originated from the volcanoes of planets or satellites.
Some scientists believed that the comets were made along with the solar system, but scientists are still skeptical about their introduction.
Comet Haley
Comet Healy is the largest of all Comets. It comes close to the earth after 75 and a half years and is then visible. It was first noticed in 1682 by the famous astronomer Edmund Healy of England, and after that, the name Comet was named after him. It later appeared in 1758, 1835 and 1910. Between September 1909 and July 1911, a number of studies were conducted on the Comat using powerful telescopes. It was last seen in 1986, when photos of it were taken by a space explorer, Jiyoto. It is estimated that it will reappear in the year 2061. Edmund Healy was a contemporary of the great scientist Newton. He studied about comets. He said that this comet had appeared in 1682 and it is the same comet that appeared in 1531 and 1607 and possibly in 1465 also. He predicted by calculation that it would reappear at the end of 1758. It also happened that this tail star appeared on the big day of 1758 (Christmas night). Since then, it has been named Haley Comet.
Interesting facts
1. Haley died on 14 January 1742, that is, he did not see his prediction come true.2. Another famous person is also associated with this comet. He is the famous writer Mark Twain. He was born on 30 November 1835 after the arrival of the Haley Comet and died on 21 April 1910, when the comet next appeared.
3. The tail stars have been considered inauspicious in all civilizations, but science has proved that they are not the cause of any ominous event or Vedic outbreak while being an astronomical body.
4. The word 'comet' is derived from the Greek word 'comets' which means 'hairy'. Since comets look like this, they got this name.
